Cookie Policy

Last updated October 2, 2026

In short: Tallgrass uses only three first-party cookies, all strictly necessary or purely functional: one keeps signed-in users signed in, and two remember your language and display currency. A couple of settings (theme, view preferences) are kept in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, no third-party cookies — our page-visit statistics are cookieless — which is why you don’t see a cookie banner.

The French version of this document prevails for users in Québec where the law requires it (Charter of the French Language). The English and Spanish versions are provided for convenience.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser and that your browser sends back with each request to that site. Local storage is a similar space in your browser, but its content stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

Cookies we use

All cookies below are first-party (set by Tallgrass itself on its own domain).

CookiePurposeDuration
sb-<project-ref>-auth-tokenStrictly necessary. Keeps a signed-in user signed in (set by our authentication provider, Supabase Auth). Set only when you sign in and removed when you sign out. It may be split into several parts ending in .0, .1… because of its size.Up to about 400 days, or until you sign out
tg_localeFunctional. Remembers the language you chose (English, French or Spanish).1 year
hf_currencyFunctional. Remembers your display currency (USD or CAD).1 year

Local storage we use

These values stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers.

KeyPurposeDuration
hf-themeRemembers the light or dark theme.Until you clear your browser data
hf-set-viewRemembers how you like to view set pages (layout and filters).Until you clear your browser data

Why there is no cookie banner

We don’t use any technology that tracks you across sites, builds a profile or serves advertising, and we don’t load third-party scripts that set cookies. To know which pages are visited and how fast they load, we use our host’s cookieless statistics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights): they set no cookie, store nothing on your device, don’t identify you and only give us aggregated counts. Under the laws that apply to us, the cookies above don’t require a consent banner:

  • Québec (Law 25): section 8.1 of the private-sector privacy act requires opt-in consent only for technologies that can identify, locate or profile you. Ours do none of that.
  • Canada (PIPEDA): these cookies are necessary to provide the service you ask for and are explained here.
  • European Union and United Kingdom (ePrivacy rules and GDPR): cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you request — like staying signed in or keeping the language you chose — are exempt from consent.

If we ever wanted to add a non-essential cookie (for example cookie-based analytics), we would ask for your consent first and update this page before doing so.

Controlling cookies

You can view, block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser’s settings. The site will still work, but if you block the sign-in cookie you won’t be able to stay signed in, and without the language and currency cookies the site will go back to its defaults on each visit.
