Pick Tallgrass if…, pick PriceCharting if…
Pick Tallgrass if
- You collect Pokémon and want set and master set checklists with a price on every printing.
- You want your collection's value, what you paid and your gain in one place, in USD or CAD.
- You want to see when a price is stale (no recent sales) before you trust it.
Pick PriceCharting if
- You collect video games or other card games too and want one price guide for all of it.
- You mainly look up recent selling prices, ungraded and graded, rather than track a set.
Bringing your collection over
Tallgrass imports any spreadsheet that has a set column (name or code) and a card number column; condition, grade, quantity and price paid are optional columns. You see every row and what it matched before anything is added. Collectr's CSV export is read as is.
Tallgrass vs PriceCharting, answered
- Why don't Tallgrass and PriceCharting show the same price?
- They measure different things at different times. Tallgrass shows the TCGplayer market price of the exact printing, with its date, and warns you when it hasn't moved for weeks; PriceCharting describes its prices as based on completed sales. Both are estimates: what a card sells for depends on condition and the day.
